The Elephants and The MulesOnce upon a time, in a faraway place was a land of elephants. The elephants spent their days walking from one lovely place to another eating the grass which grew in abundance there. One day, the elephants saw a great cloud of smoke off to the West. It billowed upward until flames appeared at the base of the firestorm and the elephants were frightened. But the fire stopped when it got to the Great River. They were safe.
A week or two later, the elephants started seeing mules coming from the West. They were tired and hungry, some with burn marks and scorches. They told the elephants the same story, that they lived in their land eating their grasses when a huge thunderstorm came through and lightening started a voracious grass fire which spread all the way to the Great River. Many mules had been killed, many more injured. T
